Just like the company in the Netherlands I introduced before, there are many companies that show a high level of performance in the manufacturing of corrugated boxes.
A rotary die-cutter with a 66-inch diameter (see the photo) is meant to mainly die-cut big boxes. However, the factory manufacturing E-flute and multicolored corrugated boxes that I visited die-cuts not only one box sheet but can die-cut up to nine per rotation according to the size.
Machine running speed of the flatbed die-cutter is doubled, its cutting size is much bigger, and you can take more than two blanks from one sheet. All these advantages can shorten the production time.
However, many corrugated box companies failed to gain the full benefits due to a lack of bounce-ability of the rubber and cork. They have said that the rubber cannot bounce back at the same speed as the high speed die-cutter runs, it wears too fast, and the quality of the rubber is not constant. For these reasons the machine speed could not be optimized.
PolyMX, manufacturer of polyurethane products in Netherlands, developed new ejection rubber especially for rotary dies achieving widespread use rapidly.
One example shows that the rate of waste stripping improved from 75% to 99% and the production amount per hour jumped from 7,200sqm to 10,560sqm. In addition, the ejection rubbers wore so little that they kept good performance even after the cutting rules had to be replaced with 2,300,000 feeds.
