Die cutting with a cutting rule is in high demand because of its great efficiency and effectiveness compared to other simple cutting methods such as scissors or more advanced cutting methods like laser cutting. One run of die cutting can cut out multiple boxes with one cutting die containing multiple replicas. For example, a cutting die for boxes of confectionery can have 20 to 30 box replicas, which means that 20 to 30 boxes can be produced at a time. Approximately 8,000 sheets of die cutting per hour can be done while laser cutting performs just 1,500 sheets per hour. This number clearly shows the production efficiency of die cutting with a die rule.
Our customers are in the die making industry and use cutting rules to make cutting dies. As it is an extremely niche industry, their market is very small. Therefore, major companies and newcomers do not enter the market and our business is not really influenced by the economy.
However, we do not want to be satisfied with the status quo. It is indispensable for us to maintain and promote relationships with both the die-makers and the box makers.
We have decided to expand our business abroad. As the first step, we opened a branch in Thailand in 2013. It is said that our technology is the best in the world, and we have confidence that Nakayama is the world’s best cutting rule manufacturer. However, that it is not enough for us. There are still numerous things that we can do to expand and make our business better such as marketing, public relations strategy, new product innovations, and more.
